How to maintain a safety helmet

How to maintain a safety helmet

Safety helmets must be well-maintained to provide the highest levels of protection. Inspect the helmet regularly for signs of wear and tear and replace any damaged components to ensure head protection performs when it matters.

Inspection

Helmets should be examined daily for obvious signs of cracking, brittleness or damage to either helmet or harness.

Storage

When not in use or during transportation, store in a suitable container that ensures the helmet:

-        is kept out of direct sunlight,

-        is stored away from chemicals and abrasive substances,

-        cannot be damaged by physical contact with hard surfaces/items.

Storage conditions are an important factor in conserving the electrical and mechanical performance of insulating helmets. Recommended storage conditions are in the range of  20 ± 15°C.
